I sometimes volunteer my time or artistic services to programs which promote a healthy community:

Save the Children
Read about this fundraiser on Apartment Therapy
In March, 2011, through sales of my artwork and generous matching donations, I raised over $8,300 for Save the Children in Japan to aid tsunami victims.

Vida Verde Nature Education
website
Vida Verde Nature Education is a non-profit that promotes educational equality by providing free, overnight, environmental learning experiences for students who wouldn't otherwise get the opportunity.  Vida Verde has invited thousands of urban Bay Area students to their overnight outdoor programs, free of charge.  The change in the students after participating in a Vida Verde experience is extraordinary.

I have volunteered with Vida Verde for many years and currently donate the designs for all aspects of their annual fundraising benefit celebrations.

San Francisco General Hospital
SFGH's Community Wellness Program provides culturally and linguistically accessible wellness programs and services to the community surrounding SFGH. The program tries to shift the hospital culture from one in which people who are ill or injured come to get fixed, to one in which people can enhace their mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health with community activities.

I designed the logo for the SFGH Community Wellness Program.

Mission Community Market
website
The Mission Community Market is a weekly, outdoor marketplace that celebrates the Mission’s diversity with fresh foods, local businesses, and after-school activities in order to increase economic opportunity, family health and the fun, safe use of streets in the Mission.

I designed the MCM logo, as well as associated marketing materials.  I also created a series of 24" x 36" hand-printed block print posters featuring the logo.
